Some events in life are unpredictable but others are certain such as birth and death. Another surety in life is this phrase: “everything that has a beginning also has an end.“

When Jesus was about to leave the world for Heaven, regarding His return to the earth, His disciples came to ask him this question:

“Tell us when these things will happen. And what will happen to prepare us for your coming and the end of time?” (Matthew 24:3)

Jesus responded by giving them clues about major world events that will happen near the time that He will return. Some of the clues Jesus mentioned were wars between countries, famines, earthquakes and the spread of pestilence (Matthew 24:7). For those of us who keep up to date with the news, we hear of wars happening across the globe such as the Iraqi military and Islamic State (IS), wars in Afghanistan, Syria and Palestine among other parts of the world. Research by Professors Mark Harrison from the University of Warwick and Nikolaus Wolf from Humboldt University (2011) revealed that between 1870 and 2001, the frequency of wars between states increased steadily by 2% a year on average.

Today both the frequency and severity of natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes and famine seem to be on the rise. Hunger is a terrible problem. According to the United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP), hunger kills more people than AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis combined. Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five – 3.1 million children each year. Despite medical advancement, there are diseases that we are yet to find a cure for such as Alzheimer’s, AIDS and cancer. People are desperately looking for answers to these calamities, but neither governments nor political leaders seem to be able to offer reliable solutions. Jesus prophesied these symptoms over 2000 years ago. These are the warning signals that the end of the world is near. All these daily happenings are signs that the return of the Lord Jesus Christ is at hand.

Salvation is the only ticket to Heaven. The Bible says,

9 Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. (Romans 10:9-10 Amplified Bible)

Receive the Lord Jesus Christ in order to escape the great wrath of God. Jesus is coming again. The end is nigh!
